0:00Good morning and welcome to your pre-market briefing for Wednesday, June 24th. Crude oil futures are under pressure this morning, while Merc and Target are bucking the trend with notable gains heading into the open. Yesterday's session showed a clear defensive rotation with consumer staples leading the way up nearly 2%. Followed by healthcare and real estate both gaining around 1 and a.5%.

0:25On the other side, technology took the hardest hit, falling over 4% with industrials and materials also closing in the red. That kind of shift out of growth and into defensives can signal that market participants are reducing risk exposure, at least in the near term. Gold futures caught significant attention yesterday, trading at roughly 6 1/2 times their average volume while falling about 1.5%.

0:53That combination of heavy volume on a down move can reflect strong conviction among sellers and it is worth watching whether that elevated participation continues or fades. Technically speaking, unusual volume often marks a meaningful turning point in either direction. Crude oil futures dropped nearly 3% and the automated technical signal here is flagging a breakdown with moderate conviction. The RSI has fallen to around 27, which places it in what technicians typically consider oversold territory, a level where downside momentum is stretched, though oversold conditions can persist. Worth noting that volume came in at just a fraction of the recent average. So, the move lacks broad participation, which some technical frameworks treat as a caution flag on the signal itself.

1:42Merc gained over 3 and a half% a standout move that aligns with the broader defensive rotation into healthcare we saw yesterday. The RSI sits near 56 reflecting neutral momentum, not overbought, not oversold, and the 50-day moving average remains above the 200 day, which technicians often describe as a constructive longerterm structure. Volume came in just under average. So, this is a price move worth monitoring to see whether participation expands or the move stalls.

2:15Target posted a gain of nearly 3 1/2% with an RSI approaching 60, still within neutral range, but trending toward the higher end of that band. The 50-day sits above the 200 day here as well. A setup that technical analysis typically associates with an underlying uptrend. volume matched the 20-day average almost exactly, suggesting this move had ordinary market participation rather than any unusual surge in conviction.

2:45Micron Technology is the eye-catcher this morning, sliding more than 13%. A sharp single session move that will put it squarely in focus at the open. Despite the magnitude of the drop, the RSI is sitting near 57, which reflects that this pullback is coming from a position of relative strength rather than an already weakened chart. The average true range here is extraordinarily wide, which tells you technically that micron is a high volatility name where large price swings are part of the pattern. Context worth keeping in mind when evaluating the significance of any single day's move.
